MESA CLOTHS, Coca Cloths, and Mestanas

Every mesa cloth is unique. Eah weaver expresses her her personal experience with the cosmovision and the landscape of her life. The fibers are hand-spun into fine yarns with a drop spindle. Men and women spin the yarns. The woman will dye some yarns with plant dyes for exquisite subtle dyes. For the intense bright colors, she will purchase powdered analine dyes. Then she weaves her magic on a simple loom while kneeling on the ground. Watch Q'ero weavers at work: Weaving in the Q'ero Nations to learn more about this ancient art.
